Prof. Matthew Olanrewaju Oriowo is a Professor and Head of the Department of Optometry and Vision Science, Faculty of Life Sciences, University of Ilorin, Nigeria. He has over three decades of University teaching, research, community service, and administrative experience. He has served as Industrial Vision Consultant, Secretary and Chairman to state and national Optometric Associations in Nigeria, and has lectured in several universities within and outside Nigeria. He has served as a reviewer and accreditor for the National Universities Commission and Core curriculum
Prof. Oriowo has many publications and conference proceedings in reputable journals to his credit. He has won several scholarship awards during his academic career from University of Houston, Texas; University of Waterloo, Ontario; the American Academy of Optometry; Beta Sigma Kappa International (USA); the Canadian Optometric Education Trust Fund; the Swedish Medical Society; the Karolinska Institute; the University of Limpopo; and was appointed Honorary Scholar by the University of Kwazulu-Natal, Durban, South Africa in 2018. He is a member of several academic and professional bodies, and a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and Nigeria Optometric Association.
